Windows 11 offers straightforward ways to run Command Prompt tasks right from a chosen directory, such as starting file operations. For PowerShell operations, users can access them swiftly with minimal navigation. This technique allows quick access to either tool without hassle.

To begin PowerShell in a specific directory, use File Explorer to reach that location. Press and hold the Shift key while right-clicking on a blank space within the folder. From the resulting menu, choose the option labeled 'Open PowerShell window here.'

For launching the Command Prompt in the same directory, simply select 'Open in Terminal' from the menu. This requires only a standard right-click, without needing to hold the Shift key.

Be aware that the 'Open in Terminal' choice may open PowerShell by default. To set it to use Command Prompt instead, first invoke 'Open in Terminal' to start PowerShell. Then, press Ctrl + Comma to open the settings. Go to the Startup section, select Default profile, and pick Command Prompt from the dropdown list. After this change, Windows 11 will launch Command Prompt when opening the Terminal.
