Microsoft has begun deploying a fresh addition to Windows 11, enabling people to check their connection speeds right from the taskbar area.
That said, reports from Windows Latest indicate this isn't an integrated system utility. Activating it launches the user's preferred browser and executes a Bing query using the phrase 'internet speed test.'
The actual assessment occurs through Ookla's Speedtest platform, developed in partnership with Microsoft. Effectively, it serves as a direct link to an online testing service rather than an offline Windows application.
Earlier versions like Windows 8 included a superior utility that displayed network information and stored records of previous checks, but Windows 11 lacks any such capability.
