File Explorer in Windows 11 now includes a more intuitive way to check file sizes quickly. Key options are also reappearing in the right-click context menu, with upcoming enhancements designed to make it faster and less cluttered.
Microsoft previously overhauled the context menu in Windows 11, causing several frequently used commands to vanish. Windows Latest indicates that among the options slated for reinstatement are 'Refresh' and 'Print.'
The company is presently evaluating the 'Refresh' command within File Explorer's right-click interface. A prominent Windows insider, known as phantomofearth, highlighted this development via social media, noting: 'More quality of life improvements are coming to Windows 11! 🎉The Refresh option is finally being added to all modern File Explorer context menus, previously it only appeared on the desktop one. A similar update is underway for the 'Print' function, allowing direct access from the standard right-click menu. As reported by Windows Latest, this capability was formerly limited to the older extended menu, a restriction that has now been lifted.
Another update focuses on enhancing how File Explorer presents file sizes for better usability. In the past, sizes were always shown in kilobytes, so an 8GB item appeared as 8,388,608KB. Now, larger files will use megabytes or gigabytes, while smaller ones remain in kilobytes, making it much easier to scan at a glance.
These updates are part of Windows 11 preview build 26300.8376. Microsoft has informed Windows Latest that they will roll out to all users over the next few weeks.
Note that Windows 11 Home users may not access certain advantages available in Windows 11 Pro. For details, review the comparison between Windows 11 Home and Pro editions. Those interested in upgrading can find Windows 11 Pro at a discount in the PCWorld Software Store for $59, down from $99.
