Microsoft seems to be losing ground in the artificial intelligence competition. Recent data from analytics firm SimilarWeb, highlighted by Windows Latest, indicates that Copilot holds just 1.1 percent of the web market share.

ChatGPT continues to lead the field with 64.5 percent dominance, and Google's Gemini has made notable gains reaching 21.5 percent. One year prior, the landscape looked quite different, with ChatGPT commanding 86.7 percent and Gemini at only 5.7 percent.

Over the same timeframe, Copilot's share has declined from 1.5 percent to the current 1.1 percent. Even lesser-known AI tools have overtaken Microsoft's struggling assistant, such as Elon Musk's Grok at 3.4 percent, along with Claude and Perplexity each securing 2 percent.

These SimilarWeb statistics focus solely on web traffic. Details on Copilot's adoption within Windows 11 remain unavailable, as Microsoft does not release such metrics. That said, based on user feedback, its performance likely isn't substantially stronger in those areas.
