Recent research by the Pew Research Center indicates that 30% of American teenagers interact with AI chatbots on a daily basis, according to TechCrunch. Additionally, 4% report using them nearly all the time.
In the survey, 59% of participants reported employing OpenAI's ChatGPT, surpassing Google Gemini—which attracted 23%—by more than double. Meanwhile, 20% utilize Meta AI, and 36% indicated no use of AI chatbots whatsoever.
The findings highlight that teenagers aged 15 to 17 engage with this technology at a much higher rate compared to their younger counterparts.
Despite the rise of AI tools, social platforms remain central to teens' digital routines, with 92% accessing YouTube, 69% on TikTok, 63% using Instagram, and 55% on Snapchat.
The Pew survey drew from answers provided by 1,458 adolescents, gathered from September 25 through October 9, 2025.
