Over the past few years, Microsoft has phased out several command-line utilities, and another one is now facing retirement.

The latest to go is the Support and Recovery Assistant (SaRA), which has helped diagnose issues with Microsoft 365, Office, Outlook, Windows, and various other Microsoft offerings. Details on the phase-out appear on the company's support page.

Microsoft states that SaRA presents potential security concerns, leading to its removal from Windows 11 via the public updates released on March 10. For details on the March patch addressing more than 80 security flaws, see the related coverage.

Users depending on SaRA should transition to the Get Help utility, Microsoft's preferred alternative now that SaRA is no longer supported. The support page includes FAQs to guide users toward Get Help and provide further assistance.
