Users of Microsoft's traditional email application, known as classic Outlook to distinguish it from the updated version, are facing renewed difficulties with secure messages. According to a company support document, individuals running the most recent build of classic Outlook (build 2511) might be unable to access encrypted correspondence despite verifying their credentials.
Microsoft has not identified the root of this malfunction yet, though the firm indicates it is actively probing the matter and plans to revise the support details as new findings emerge.
As a temporary solution, the company recommends downgrading to a prior iteration of the classic Outlook software. Alternatively, users should apply encryption through the Options section rather than selecting it from the File menu.
