This week, multiple LG smart TV users highlighted the unexpected addition of the Microsoft Copilot feature, which became fixed on their home screens without any removal possibility.

The icon reportedly arrived via a latest webOS software update. While users could conceal the shortcut, fully eliminating it remained impossible, leading many to view it as an intrusive imposition.

LG had earlier revealed a collaboration with Microsoft under its AI TV program. The firm stated that Copilot would deliver artificial intelligence-driven search and content suggestion features right within the television's interface.

In response to the criticism, LG indicated it would implement measures permitting customers to eliminate the shortcut icon at their preference, according to Engadget.

The company further explained that the Copilot icon does not represent a full application, contrary to initial assumptions, but rather a link that launches the AI conversational tool through the TV's web browser.
