My colleague on the AI beat, Ben Patterson, characterized the Mac version of the Gemini app with a middling “meh,” and that’s where I am as well.

A separate “Import memory to Gemini” tab allows you to tell other LLMs to summarize what they know about you and then feed that information to Gemini. If you download the Gemini app for Windows, make sure you explore the Settings menu further.

As part of the ongoing story, what does the Windows app offer that a prompt on Gemini’s web app does not? The one function that immediately came to mind was to use the app to clean out my Gmail inbox, such as deleting any email in my Social tab that was older than 60 days. Still, the chatbot interface is where you should interact with Gemini.

To clear or manage your ‘Social’ tab, you will need to open Gmail, navigate to the Social tab (or search category:social older_than:60d ), select the messages, and delete them manually.”. “I found emails from your Gmail search, but I am unable to permanently delete them for you,” Gemini responded.
