For those avoiding the hassle of repositioning furniture to optimize Dolby Atmos speaker placement, Dolby has introduced a versatile Atmos feature that allows speaker positioning freedom, now debuting in a soundbar product for the first time.

Set to feature prominently at CES in the coming weeks, the LG H7 soundbar forms part of the company's innovative modular Sound Suite lineup, which includes surround speakers available in two variants and a dedicated subwoofer.

Details on pricing and availability for the Sound Suite remain undisclosed by LG, with further information expected at the start of CES in early January; however, the setup supports Dolby Atmos FlexConnect, enabling users to position compatible Atmos speakers flexibly within any space.

TCL became the initial home entertainment brand to collaborate with Dolby on this adaptable 'Atmos-anywhere' innovation, launching its Dolby Atmos FlexConnect televisions and speakers for retail in August.

Equipment supporting Dolby Atmos FlexConnect is designed to function exclusively with other FlexConnect-compatible devices; for instance, TCL's FlexConnect speakers require pairing with designated TCL QD-Mini LED TV models, preventing compatibility with standard televisions.

LG's Dolby Atmos FlexConnect components face a comparable restriction, but the H7 soundbar acts as the central unit for LG's FlexConnect speakers, allowing integration with virtually any TV when connected through the H7.

LG plans to incorporate FlexConnect into its premium television range starting in 2026 and via firmware updates for certain 2025 models, benefiting buyers of LG's standalone FlexConnect satellite speakers or subwoofer who skip the soundbar.

The LG H7 soundbar utilizes LG's Alpha 11 AI Processor Gen 3 and features an AI Sound Pro+ setting that converts stereo sound to multi-channel output while dynamically adapting the audio profile based on the media being played.

The LG Sound Suite also encompasses M7 and M2 surround speakers alongside the W7 subwoofer, with additional specifications pending; pairing the H7 soundbar with four M7 or M2 units and the subwoofer creates a comprehensive 13.1.7-channel setup, according to LG.

LG's complete Sound Suite incorporates an ultra wideband 'Sound Follow' capability that relocates the optimal listening zone to match the user's position, complemented by Room Calibration Pro, which fine-tunes sound performance to suit the room's acoustic properties.
