Even if you're away, the enhanced AI version of Alexa can now interact with individuals at your entrance, whether family members or couriers, using tailored and conversational replies.

Amazon's Alexa+ Greetings capability, introduced earlier this year during the company's major unveiling of AI-upgraded Alexa, becomes available starting now on select wired Ring video doorbells.

This functionality empowers the advanced assistant to engage in fluid dialogues with those at the door while identifying them through elements like their attire, carried objects, or behaviors.

After identifying the visitor, Alexa+ responds according to user-defined guidelines, as outlined by Amazon.

For instance, it might detect a courier in a FedEx outfit carrying a box and direct them to leave it in a specific, hidden location.

Additionally, Alexa+ integrates with the existing Familiar Faces tool, which identifies enrolled acquaintances, relatives, or regular guests by their facial features via the Alexa application.

Beyond welcoming acquaintances or managing packages, the Greetings option in Alexa+ can handle unwanted sales pitches, such as instructing the assistant to courteously inform solicitors that no purchases are desired, per Amazon's example.

While the standard Alexa offers pre-recorded messages for Ring doorbells, the new version relies on AI-generated replies for more dynamic interactions.

Accessing Alexa+ Greetings requires either the third-generation Ring Wired Doorbell Pro or the second-generation Ring Wired Doorbell Plus.

Users must also subscribe to the Ring Home Premium service, costing $20 monthly, which provides 180 days of video storage, AI alerts for people, vehicles, and packages, continuous recording, a unified live view across multiple cameras, and further enhancements for all Ring devices.
