The password management service 1Password has introduced an enhanced security option within its browser add-on to guard against phishing attempts, as noted by Engadget. This addition alerts individuals when they enter credentials by hand on a page not associated with any stored account in the app.
Users will see an alert box urging them to stop and verify the page's authenticity and reliability. The firm states that such a momentary halt could prevent certain phishing schemes from succeeding.
While 1Password prevents autofill on fraudulent domains, it previously did not cover passwords that users type or paste manually.
This update is live immediately and users can enable it through the browser extension's configuration menu.
